About the role
The Head of Legal Compliance will lead the development and execution of corporate affairs, government relations, public relations, legal and compliance strategies that support the company’s business objectives. Reporting to senior management, this role ensures the organization operates within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations while safeguarding its reputation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated corporate affairs, government relations, public relations, legal and compliance strategies aligned with business goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, regulators, industry associations and key stakeholders.
- Oversee regulatory and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations and government requirements.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory and policy changes and assess their impact on the business.
- Lead corporate communications, including media relations, press releases and external announcements.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on legal, regulatory, compliance, government relations and reputational risks.
- Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks, coordinating with internal teams and external counsel as needed.
- Develop and maintain corporate policies, compliance frameworks, procedures and governance standards.
- Represent the company at meetings with authorities, regulators, industry forums and conferences.
- Lead, manage and develop the Corporate Affairs, Legal & Compliance team and coordinate cross‑functional initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications or a related field.
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in corporate affairs, government relations, legal, regulatory affairs or compliance, preferably at a managerial level.
- Strong knowledge of Myanmar laws, regulatory frameworks, government processes and corporate governance.
- Proven experience managing relationships with government authorities, regulators and industry associations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management and leadership abilities.
- High integrity, professionalism, confidentiality and accountability.
Required skills
- In‑depth understanding of Myanmar legal and regulatory environment.
- Strategic thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Ability to provide sound advice on complex corporate, legal and compliance matters.
- Effective decision‑making and risk‑management skills.
