Assistant Corporate Lawyer

About the role

The Assistant Corporate Lawyer will support the legal and compliance functions of a leading life insurance company in Myanmar, ensuring contracts and regulatory matters are managed effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Review, manage and assess contracts and agreements for compliance and risk.
• Collaborate with legal counsel and stakeholders to negotiate contract terms.
• Ensure outsourcing agreements meet internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor contract compliance, handle renewals, amendments and updates.
• Maintain a secure contract database with key milestones and obligations.
• Prepare contract summaries and reports for management.
• Develop and standardize contract templates, policies and guidelines.
• Support compliance initiatives and internal training on legal procedures.
• Coordinate financial transactions related to contracts and resolve payment issues.
• Visit government offices to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
• Develop business and execution plans, and ensure governance through organizational rules.
• Coordinate AGM, SHM, BOD, EC and CCR meetings and prepare resolutions and minutes.
• Submit DICA applications and maintain relationships with shareholders and board members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Myanmar preferred.
• Solid understanding of corporate and commercial law, preferably with insurance or financial services exposure.
• Experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts and policies.
• Ability to interpret and apply local laws and support regulatory compliance.
• Strong research, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English; Myanmar language is an advantage.
• High attention to detail, integrity and professionalism with confidential information.
• Capacity to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
