Project Officer – Health & WASH

About the role

The Project Officer (Health & WASH) will lead emergency health and water, sanitation and hygiene interventions in Kayin State, Myanmar. Reporting to the Area Operations Manager and working with the Implementing Office, the role ensures mothers and children receive timely care and coordinates referrals to specialised services.

Key responsibilities

• Implement community‑based health activities and emergency WASH measures according to work plans and budgets.
• Provide supportive supervision to project villages, monitor and build capacity of community‑based health workers (CBHWs).
• Coordinate emergency referrals with health facilities and ensure rapid response to secondary impacts such as flooding or water contamination.
• Oversee water supply, latrine construction, hygiene promotion and temporary bathing facilities in IDP camps and relocation sites.
• Monitor project data together with the MEAL Officer and ensure optimal use of resources and compliance with financial policies.
• Prepare monthly progress reports and represent SCI in coordination with local authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in health, public health or a related field.
• Minimum three years experience implementing development or humanitarian health programmes, preferably in primary healthcare and conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, travel to remote areas and collaborate with multiple functional departments.
• Strong interpersonal and community development skills, with a commitment to Save the Children’s values and child safeguarding policies.
