Finance Specialist – Internal Only

About the role

The Finance Specialist will work under the Support Services Manager to ensure all financial functions for the Rakhine state office are performed accurately, on time, and in line with DRC’s internal controls and donor requirements. This internal‑only position focuses on planning, analysis, accounting, payroll, budgeting, reporting and grant financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Support capacity‑building for staff and partner finance teams.
• Provide technical advice to the area finance team and reinforce financial procedures.
• Prepare and deliver timely BFU reports, staff allocations and budgetary controls.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, tax, levies and donor guidelines.
• Conduct monthly financial briefings, cash forecasts and monitor funding levels.
• Maintain documentation for audits and coordinate local audit preparations.
• Oversee month‑end accounting cycles in Microsoft Dynamics, including bank and cash reconciliations, cash‑book closing and advance tracking.
• Monitor supplier payments and recurrent expenditures, ensuring proper authorisation.
• Participate in proposal development and budgeting in collaboration with managers.

Required profile

• Experience in financial management within an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, accounting cycles and donor compliance.
• Ability to work closely with managers, provide technical support and ensure accurate reporting.
• Familiarity with DRC policies and internal control frameworks.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics (ERP) for accounting and reporting.
• Financial accounting and month‑end closing.
• Cash and bank reconciliation.
• Budget monitoring and variance analysis.
