Deputy Head of Key Stage 5

About the role

Kings International School (KIC) in Bahan is hiring a full-time Deputy Head of Key Stage 5. The Deputy supports the Head of Key Stage/Head of School in bringing the academic and pastoral vision to life, focusing on interventions, tracking exam readiness, daily student management, form tutor and class teacher programme execution, and helping with pedagogical quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in standardizing internal assessments and coordinating moderation cycles.
• Review weekly schemes of work and help class teachers integrate active learning, study notes, regular correction and student-centered methods.
• Monitor gradebook reporting compliance and qualitative reporting standards across subjects.
• Liaise with teachers, SEN and counseling colleagues so every student is supported academically and emotionally.
• Help organize mock exams and student progress review meetings.
• Create and oversee a dynamic tutor programme, plan and lead assemblies, and encourage systems and routines during tutor time.
• Manage daily communication between form teachers, leaders and parents, and monitor attendance closely.
• Reward and celebrate student achievements and act as the main point for peer conflict resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject, recognized teaching qualification and evidence of ongoing professional development in pastoral care or academic leadership.
• Proven classroom teaching record and experience leading student intervention and exam-readiness systems.
• Experience as a Form Tutor/Class Teacher, organizing internal assessments, moderation cycles and mock exams, and managing discipline and behavior.
• Ability to coordinate with SEN and counseling departments.

Required skills

• Understanding of student-centered methods, active learning and pedagogical quality assurance.
• Ability to review and guide teachers on schemes of work and to monitor gradebook compliance and data tracking.
• Strong organizational skills and excellent communication with teachers, senior leaders and parents.
• Ability to plan and lead inspiring student assemblies.
