Community Health Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Community Health Officer to support community‑based health activities across Myanmar. Working under the Senior Health Officer, you will travel extensively to remote villages, IDP sites, and hard‑to‑reach areas to strengthen health service utilization, disease surveillance, and outbreak preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct community awareness sessions on immunization, maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Mobilize community members to access routine health services, outreach clinics, and emergency health interventions.
• Support implementation of Community‑Based Surveillance (CBS) and report priority diseases and health events.
• Verify surveillance alerts through field visits and maintain accurate records of alerts, referrals, and follow‑up actions.
• Assist in outbreak investigations, risk communication, and emergency response activities.
• Collect community feedback and relay information to senior project staff.

Required profile

• Myanmar national with the ability to travel 70‑80% of the time to remote locations.
• Experience or background in community health, public health, or related fields.
• Strong communication skills for engaging community leaders, volunteers, and health facilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under guidance.
