Project Assistant (Health & Nutrition)

About the role

The Project Assistant (Health & Nutrition) will support the implementation of health and nutrition activities in Rakhine State. Working under the Project Coordinator, the role focuses on community‑based interventions, monitoring, and capacity building to improve maternal, newborn, child health (MNCH) and nutrition outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day implementation of health and nutrition activities using a community‑based approach.
• Conduct field and remote monitoring of activities and provide supportive supervision to volunteers and community facilitators.
• Deliver technical training on MNCH and integrated community case management (iCCM) to community health workers.
• Facilitate Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) group sessions, including Mother Leader Groups, Father Groups, and IYCF caregiver sessions.
• Coordinate with local authorities and mobile clinics to ensure smooth referral pathways.
• Oversee stock management of essential supplies (e.g., clean delivery kits, micronutrient tablets, ORS, zinc, amoxicillin) and arrange logistics for field distribution.
• Support budgeting, cash advances, and financial coordination for field activities.
• Collect and share data, lessons learned, and problem‑solving approaches with the project team.

Required profile

• Experience in community health, nutrition, or related humanitarian projects.
• Willingness to travel frequently to field sites (at least four times per month).
• Ability to work with children and young people (Child Safeguarding Level 3).
• Strong communication and coordination skills with local authorities and volunteers.
• Basic understanding of MNCH, iCCM, and SBCC approaches.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health and nutrition interventions and community mobilisation.
• Experience in stock management and logistics coordination.
• Ability to conduct training and supervision sessions.
