Biomedical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer to manage the hospital’s medical equipment inventory, oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with safety and accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Update the inventory machine list, asset codes and maintain a summary of all medical equipment used in the hospital.
• Plan and implement scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration programs for medical devices.
• Coordinate with supplier engineers for repairs, calibrations and maintenance in line with hospital contract policies.
• Handle equipment user complaints and perform corrective maintenance as needed.
• Process purchase, capital expenditure and service requests through the Supply Chain Department and maintain soft‑copy records.
• Train technicians and clinical staff on equipment functions, cleaning, disinfection and basic troubleshooting.
• Support overseas projects involving angiography, laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgery equipment.
• Collaborate with the Quality Control team to meet JCIA requirements and update service improvement plans.
• Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance activities and department store inventories.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong biomedical and clinical engineering knowledge with practical experience in equipment maintenance.
• Familiarity with healthcare safety standards, regulatory requirements and medical device quality assurance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and service documentation.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clinical staff, vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Prior experience in a hospital or clinical engineering department and knowledge of JCI accreditation is an advantage.
