Transport Manager

About the role

The Transport Manager will lead the transport department across all branches, ensuring timely deliveries, high fleet availability, and excellent customer service. This senior position combines operational oversight, maintenance leadership, budget control, and market development.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day transport operations, route planning, and vehicle allocation.
• Coordinate with other departments to streamline workflows and reduce delays.
• Maintain driver discipline, enforce company policies, and monitor KPIs.
• Lead an in‑house mechanics team, enforce preventive maintenance schedules, and keep vehicle downtime below 3%.
• Utilise Transport Management System (TMS) tools—GPS, sensors, cameras—to optimise routes and track performance.
• Ensure all trucks meet licensing, registration, and safety regulations.
• Develop and manage the annual transport budget, control fuel, maintenance, staffing, and procurement costs.
• Identify new business opportunities in FMCG and beverage sectors, build long‑term client relationships, and propose service‑pricing options.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in transport, fleet, or logistics operations.
• At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role, preferably overseeing multi‑branch operations.
• Experience in the FMCG, beverage, or distribution sector is a plus.
• Proven track record in budget control and cost management.
