Internal Auditor

About the role

The bank is looking for a diligent and experienced auditor to strengthen its operational integrity, ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards, and maintain alignment with them. Using a risk-based audit approach, the auditor will assess risk management practices, evaluate internal controls, identify areas for improvement and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Implement a risk-based audit approach, prioritising the highest-risk areas, and provide independent assurance on the relevance and reliability of financial and operational information
• Examine the adequacy of risk management systems and recommend risk mitigation measures
• Review the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls that safeguard assets and streamline operations
• Ensure strict conformance with laws, regulations and internal policies, and suggest corrective actions for deviations
• Report regularly to senior management and the Audit Committee on findings, risk assessments and concerns, and support the external audit by providing documentation
• Recommend process improvements and offer consultancy to departments to refine their processes and controls
• Stay up to date with industry developments in risk management and audit methodologies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance or a related field; a professional qualification such as CIA, ACCA or CPA is preferred
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in internal audit; banking experience in Myanmar is preferred
• Strong knowledge of risk-based internal audit, internal controls, risk management and audit practices
• Experience in audit planning, fieldwork, working paper review, reporting and follow-up of findings
• Good understanding of banking operations, regulatory requirements and policies
• Leadership and team management skills, including supervising and coaching audit team members
• High integrity, independence, objectivity, confidentiality and professional ethics

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of audit software or data analytics tools is an advantage
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
