Inclusive Market Development Specialist (CREATE Project)

About the role

World Vision is hiring a local, fixed-term Inclusive Market Development Specialist for its CREATE Project in Yangon. The role works with producers and producer groups to improve their access to markets, through situation analysis, value chain work, group facilitation and training.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out situation analyses and participatory value chain analyses with producers, identifying opportunities, risks and market actors
• Facilitate the formation of producer groups and train them in group management, financial literacy, basic market skills, innovation and natural resource management and production skills
• Organise technical training so producers can meet market requirements, and ongoing training on production issues such as disease, pests and weather
• Help producers develop action plans, link with buyers and negotiate with them
• Build stakeholder networks with local government, NGOs and business groups and share market opportunities
• Collect baseline data, evaluate project impact and record networks and contacts
• Mentor and coach producers and producer groups to build local capacity

Required profile

• 5 years of progressive experience in facilitation, especially of farmer groups
• 5 years of progressive experience in value chain analysis, market research or a closely related role
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, economics, business administration, commerce or agricultural economics, or a master's in a related field
• Good command of Myanmar
• Local applicants only

• Experience in business, networking and negotiation
• Experience with financial services in a development context
• Group facilitation and training experience
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Understanding of commercial market operations and value chain analysis
