Area Manager Myanmar

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is looking for an Area Manager to join its Myanmar mission. The role holder ensures quality, cost-effective and accountable implementation and oversees NRC operations in Northern Myanmar, including Rakhine. The position is based in Yangon or Sittwe.

Key responsibilities

• Line management of programme and support functions
• Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidance and procedures
• Contribute to core competency strategies, response plans and country strategy
• Implement area-specific strategies
• Represent NRC and build networks
• Build the capacity of the Area Office team and local partners
• Contribute to humanitarian policy initiatives

Required profile

• Experience as an Area Manager or programme manager in the humanitarian field
• Managerial and interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication
• Exposure to complex and volatile contexts
• Fluent English, written and spoken
