Underwriting Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an Underwriting Supervisor to lead the evaluation and approval of unsecured credit loans, including credit card applications. The role involves guiding junior underwriters and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, authorize, or recommend approval of unsecured credit loans.
• Advise borrowers and branch staff on financial status and payment methods.
• Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for credit‑card applications and recommend approval, decline, or conditional approval.
• Review and validate customer financial information, income documents, and credit histories.
• Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, CBM regulations and internal credit policies.
• Handle complex, high‑risk or exception cases and provide guidance to junior underwriting staff.
• Coordinate with branches, risk, operations, and card teams to resolve underwriting issues.
• Maintain accurate records and audit‑ready documentation.
• Support portfolio quality monitoring and continuous process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in credit cards or retail lending.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to meet turnaround‑time and processing‑accuracy targets.
• Demonstrated support and mentoring effectiveness for junior staff.
• Commitment to compliance with underwriting policies and audit standards.
