Senior Fiber Engineer

About the role

Global Technology Group, a leading digital infrastructure and broadband provider in Myanmar, is expanding its engineering team. We are looking for a Senior Fiber Engineer to lead the design, planning, and optimisation of our nationwide FTTx fibre network.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design and planning of GPON, FTTx, XGSPON and Active Ethernet networks.
• Supervise end‑to‑end fibre design activities, ensuring accuracy, scalability and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver projects on time and to quality specifications.
• Conduct site surveys, optimise designs for efficient rollout and prepare material forecasts and project plans.
• Evaluate new technologies, equipment and design improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
• Maintain quality control, ensure compliance with industry standards and promote continuous improvement within the engineering function.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fibre design and planning within a fixed‑line or cable operator environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deliver high‑quality results and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational skills with a customer‑focused mindset.

Required skills

• GPON, FTTx, XGSPON and Active Ethernet network architectures.
• Fibre design, survey and inventory tools.
• Preparation of High‑Level Design (HLD), Low‑Level Design (LLD), permit drawings and as‑built documentation.
• Knowledge of underground and aerial fibre network topology.
• Quality control of engineering designs and design optimisation techniques.
