Branch Manager – Retail Supermarket

About the role

The Branch Manager leads all aspects of a supermarket’s daily operations, ensuring profitability, safety, and an excellent shopping experience. You will be responsible for overseeing store departments, managing finances, guiding staff, and maintaining compliance with company standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day operations across all store areas (produce, deli, bakery, stock, cashiering, etc.).
• Develop and enforce policies that keep the store clean, safe, and well‑organized.
• Monitor inventory, control stock levels, and manage receiving to minimise waste and avoid out‑of‑stock situations.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget, track expenses, and analyse sales, revenue and profit reports.
• Implement marketing initiatives and business strategies to attract new customers and boost sales.
• Oversee cash handling, ensure accurate reconciliation of sales figures, and maintain financial controls.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise store staff, conducting performance reviews and fostering a positive work environment.
• Ensure high‑quality customer service, promptly resolve complaints, and uphold the branch’s reputation in the community.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and security regulations, and coordinate with regulatory agencies as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or related field preferred; associate degree or extensive experience may be accepted.
• 3‑5+ years of management experience in a high‑volume retail or grocery environment, preferably as an Assistant or Department Manager.
• Proven leadership ability to delegate, coach, motivate and develop diverse teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, P&L analysis and expense control.
• Solid operational management skills, including inventory control and store maintenance coordination.
