Senior Safeguarding Manager (GEDI Focal)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Senior Safeguarding Manager (GEDI Focal) to lead safeguarding strategy and implementation across its Myanmar operations. Reporting to the Deputy Director – People and Culture, the role will strengthen systems, promote a culture of prevention and ensure safe, inclusive programming in line with IRC global standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to embed safeguarding and GEDI principles across the project cycle.
• Coordinate implementation and monitoring of Safeguarding Minimum Standards and incident‑response SOP at country level.
• Lead training plans and curricula for staff, partners and incentive workers.
• Serve as primary focal point for safeguarding concerns and lead incident response with a survivor‑centred approach.
• Support program teams with risk assessments and develop sector‑specific guidance for safe, inclusive delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Law, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of professional experience in Safeguarding/PSEA, Protection/GBV or safe programming within humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven experience managing sensitive safeguarding concerns using confidential, survivor‑centred processes.
• Experience conducting safeguarding risk assessments and supporting partner capacity assessments.

Required skills

• Designing and delivering training, coaching and mentoring.
• Strong knowledge of Safeguarding Minimum Standards, PSEA principles and child safeguarding.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
