Project Officer (Health and WASH)

About the role

This position oversees emergency health and WASH interventions in Kayin State, initiating and managing humanitarian responses based on emerging community needs. Reporting to the Area Operations Manager and working with the Implementing Office, the officer ensures mothers and children receive appropriate care at the community level and facilitates access to specialized tertiary care when required.

Key responsibilities

• Implement community‑based health activities and emergency WASH interventions in the assigned township according to work plans and budgets.
• Provide supportive supervision to project villages, monitor CBHW performance, and organise capacity‑building sessions.
• Coordinate emergency referral processes with health facilities and oversee water supply, latrine setup, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and temporary bathing facilities in IDP camps.
• Monitor project data with the MEAL Officer, ensure optimal use of resources, and prepare monthly progress reports.
• Represent Save the Children in coordination with local authorities and initiate needs assessments for emergency health and humanitarian responses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in health, public health or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience implementing development or humanitarian health programs, preferably in primary healthcare and conflict settings.
• Strong understanding of the local context in Kayin State and ability to travel to remote areas.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to child safeguarding.
