Community Facilitator (Health & Nutrition)

About the role

The Community Facilitator (Health & Nutrition) will support the implementation of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) activities in Rakhine, working closely with community health workers, mother‑to‑mother groups, father groups and other volunteers. The role aims to reduce health risk factors among vulnerable populations through WASH, health and nutrition interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day MNCH activities with the Project Assistant and community volunteers, providing supportive supervision for home visits and one‑to‑one health education.
• Monitor MUAC screening, identify malnourished pregnant and lactating women and refer them to integrated nutrition service centres.
• Facilitate mother‑to‑mother, father and caregiver group sessions on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and other SBCC key practices.
• Ensure early detection and referral of sick children under five to the nearest health facilities.
• Support emergency referrals for pregnant women, newborns and infants in collaboration with implementing partners.
• Contribute to nutrition promotion, immunisation, vitamin A, deworming campaigns and micronutrient powder distribution.
• Collect data from community volunteers, maintain records and submit monthly output reports to the line manager.
• Assist in liaison with local authorities and key stakeholders, sharing lessons learned.

Required profile

• Minimum high school education; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• At least one year of experience in maternal/child health and nutrition programmes.
• Proven ability to manage teams and communicate effectively with colleagues and community members.
• Willingness to work in hard‑to‑reach or remote areas with limited resources and respect local culture.
