Supermarket Operation Manager

About the role

The Supermarket Operation Manager leads all aspects of store performance, from sales and financial results to staff management and customer experience. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and profitable shopping environment while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of all store departments (produce, deli, bakery, stock, cashiering, etc.) ensuring cleanliness, safety and organization.
• Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures, monitor stock levels, manage inventory control and supervise receiving of goods.
• Coordinate store repairs and upkeep with the maintenance team.
• Develop and manage the branch’s annual budget, control expenses and monitor overheads.
• Analyze sales, revenue and profit reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Implement business strategies and marketing plans to attract new customers and increase profitability.
• Oversee cash handling processes and ensure accurate reconciliation of sales figures.
• Recruit, hire, train and supervise all store staff, including department managers.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and motivate the team to meet sales objectives.
• Manage scheduling, monitor attendance and resolve personnel issues.
• Ensure excellent customer service and promptly address complaints.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and sanitation regulations and implement theft‑prevention procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3‑5+ years of management experience in a high‑volume supermarket or grocery environment.
• Proven leadership ability to recruit, train, coach and motivate a diverse team.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, P&L analysis and expense control.
• In‑depth knowledge of retail operations, inventory control and compliance with health and safety regulations.
