Mechanical Technician – Production Maintenance

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will ensure that production equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and support continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, monitor, and maintain mechanical equipment used in production processes.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs according to schedules and SOPs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes, and replace defective components to minimise downtime.
• Install, assemble, adjust, and calibrate equipment for new production runs or after maintenance.
• Record maintenance activities, performance data, breakdown reports, and spare‑parts usage accurately.
• Conduct equipment inspections to identify potential issues before failures occur.
• Collaborate with Production, Electrical and Engineering teams to resolve equipment issues.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by recommending equipment modifications.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, maintenance procedures and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing, food processing or industrial settings.
• Physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment and work in hot, noisy, dusty or confined spaces.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and emergency call‑outs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors and rotating equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments and mechanical diagnostic equipment.
• Capability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and maintenance procedures.
• Familiarity with preventive‑maintenance systems and documentation.
