Head of Engineering

About the role

As Head of Engineering you will own the technical delivery capability of Zeya Labs' secondment team. You will set engineering standards, define architectural direction, and manage a pooled allocation of developers, QA, DevOps and architects across multiple active projects.

Key responsibilities

• People management: conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career development plans for 19 engineers across Dev, QA, DevOps and Architecture.
• Resource allocation: assign and rebalance pooled engineering staff across projects based on priority and capacity.
• Technical standards: define and enforce coding standards, architecture review processes and release quality gates.
• Hiring & backfill: own open engineering requisitions, interview candidates and oversee onboarding.
• Cross‑functional coordination: partner with PMO on delivery timelines and with Business Groups on technical feasibility.
• Production reliability: oversee DevOps/SRE responsibilities for uptime, incident response and deployment pipelines.
• Reporting: provide the CEO with visibility into engineering capacity, delivery risk and technical debt.

Required profile

• Senior hands‑on engineering background, preferably with solutions‑architecture exposure.
• Demonstrated people‑management experience; leadership is a primary requirement.
• Experience managing distributed or remote engineering teams.
• Comfort working directly with non‑technical stakeholders to translate business needs.
• Proven ability to make resourcing trade‑offs across competing project priorities.
