Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager

About the role

The Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager will lead the development and execution of strategies that anticipate and shape the operating environment for JTI in Myanmar. Reporting to the Corporate Affairs & Communications Director, you will work closely with the market Executive Committee and functional partners to protect commercial interests and promote responsible business practices.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and anticipate changes in the operating environment that create commercial risk or opportunity, and communicate insights to the General Manager and market Excom.
• Design and implement political, regulatory and media engagement strategies to present JTI’s positions effectively.
• Collaborate with functional counterparts and JTI headquarters to develop or adapt corporate views on public issues.
• Set performance criteria and objectives for public relations and government relations consultants, ensuring alignment with business goals and the JTI Code of Conduct.
• Lead key projects such as illicit strategy and planning, excise tax strategy development, stakeholder engagement with NGOs, chambers and the Myanmar Tobacco Association, and regulatory engagement with MIC, MOC, MOH, and MOFR.

Required profile

• University degree in Politics, Law, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate affairs, external affairs or government relations in a multinational or influential local company, or 5 years in commercial strategy, business development or management consulting.
• Proven ability to anticipate environmental changes and execute programs that shape outcomes.
• Strong experience in commercial or corporate affairs, with solid government and media relations expertise.
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing and leadership capabilities, and a teamwork orientation.
