SME Credit Underwriter - Senior Associate

About the role

The SME Credit Underwriter – Senior Associate is responsible for evaluating and analysing the creditworthiness of small‑and‑medium‑enterprise loan applications submitted by branches. The role involves detailed financial and collateral assessment, risk identification and ongoing portfolio monitoring to ensure compliance with the Central Bank of Myanmar guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse SME loan proposals in line with bank policies and submit them for approval.
• Validate financial information, liaise with relationship managers, and analyse financial and bank statements.
• Assess the adequacy and enforceability of pledged assets and coordinate with the in‑house legal team.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor business premises when required.
• Identify business, industry and management risks and design mitigation strategies, including loan covenants.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Myanmar directives.
• Monitor loan performance, delinquency and loss metrics, and prepare regular activity reports.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Head/Team Lead of the Credit Underwriting Department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
• Minimum 2 years of banking experience in a similar credit underwriting role.
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a matrix environment and under pressure.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Digital‑oriented with strong computer proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
