Retail Manager – Store Operations & Team Leadership

About the role

The Retail Manager leads all aspects of store operations, driving profitability while ensuring a safe, efficient and customer‑focused shopping environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day store operations across all departments, ensuring a clean, safe and organized environment.
• Manage inventory control, stock levels and receiving processes to minimise waste and avoid out‑of‑stock situations.
• Develop and monitor the branch’s annual budget, analyse sales and profit reports, and implement strategies to boost profitability.
• Recruit, train, schedule and lead store staff, conducting performance evaluations and fostering a positive team culture.
• Ensure excellent customer service, address complaints promptly and maintain the store’s reputation in the community.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, sanitation and security regulations, and liaise with relevant authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3‑5+ years of management experience in a high‑volume retail or grocery environment.
• Strong leadership, commercial acumen and operational knowledge of supermarket best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency with retail management software.
• Experience using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
