Monitoring and Assurance Compliance Officer

About the role

The Monitoring and Assurance Compliance Officer will evaluate and strengthen internal controls to ensure alignment with the latest Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) directives. This role involves continuous testing, gap analysis, and reporting to senior management within a banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the design and effectiveness of KYC/CDD protocols, transaction limits, and reporting mechanisms against current CBM instructions.
• Identify control gaps and residual risks that exceed the organization’s risk appetite.
• Perform forensic‑level sample testing of files and transactions to validate remediation evidence provided by the first line.
• Conduct periodic continuous monitoring to prevent compliance drift between audit cycles.
• Prepare high‑quality assurance reports highlighting root causes and actionable recommendations for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Accounting or a related field.
• 2–3 years of banking experience, with at least 2 years in compliance, risk, or trade finance (second‑line experience preferred).
• Deep knowledge of Financial Institutions Law, CBM directives, and AML/CFT regulations.
• Proficiency in English and Burmese, capable of interpreting technical regulatory language.
• Professional compliance certification such as ACAMS is highly preferred.
