Maintenance Assistant Executive

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant Executive supports the Maintenance Manager in overseeing all maintenance activities across a large FMCG manufacturing plant. The role involves planning preventive maintenance, supervising a diverse technical team, monitoring utility consumption, and stepping in to lead the department when required.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Manager in designing and executing preventive maintenance (PM) programs.
• Supervise senior supervisors, boiler operators, technicians, and mechanics; assign tasks and provide on‑the‑job training.
• Monitor equipment condition, prioritize repairs, and respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair production, utility, plumbing, and building systems.
• Track electricity, water, diesel and steam usage, analyse costs and produce weekly/monthly reports.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, spare‑parts usage records and downtime reports.
• Prepare and present maintenance status reports to management.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, generate purchase requests and coordinate with store‑keeping.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with Production, QA, Warehouse, suppliers and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE usage and incident investigations.
• Act on behalf of the Maintenance Manager during absences.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics.
• 6‑8 years of experience in FMCG plant maintenance.
• Ability to work in hot, noisy, dusty environments and respond to emergencies outside normal hours.
• Occasional travel for supplier visits or urgent spare‑part pickups.

Required skills

• Boiler operation and maintenance.
• IWTp (industrial water treatment plant) and WWTp (waste‑water treatment plant) operation and maintenance.
• Practical electrical and mechanical maintenance skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and presentation preparation.
