Country Office Director

About the role

The Country Office Director leads UNOPS Myanmar’s operations, providing strategic leadership and ensuring delivery of high‑impact programmes across humanitarian and development sectors. Reporting to the Regional Director, the role oversees portfolio management, partnership development and the day‑to‑day functioning of the office.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the Country Office strategy, set priorities and manage the annual work plan.
• Lead a diverse team, fostering a culture of trust, inclusion and zero tolerance for misconduct.
• Oversee the portfolio of engagements, monitor performance, manage operational risks and ensure cost‑effective service delivery.
• Represent UNOPS in Myanmar, building and maintaining relationships with government, donors and implementing partners.
• Recruit, develop and retain staff with the competencies required to achieve the office’s objectives.
• Ensure compliance with UNOPS policies, protection mechanisms and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in managing large‑scale development or humanitarian programmes.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of fund and programme management, procurement and infrastructure delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and diplomatic skills.
• Commitment to UN values, gender equality and safeguarding principles.
