Convenience Store Operations Manager

About the role

The Convenience Store Operations Manager leads daily store activities to ensure efficiency, profitability and a customer‑first experience. Reporting to senior leadership, you will oversee multiple operational areas, from inventory control to staff performance, in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day store operations, ensuring cleanliness, efficiency and compliance with SOPs.
• Conduct operational audits and store visits to monitor maintenance, security and visual merchandising.
• Develop and optimise inventory management systems to maximise product availability while reducing waste and excess stock.
• Lead regular physical inventory counts and loss‑prevention initiatives to minimise shrinkage.
• Analyse KPIs such as sales growth, average transaction value, units per transaction and gross profit margins.
• Oversee cash management, including register reconciliations, safe audits and banking procedures.
• Mentor and evaluate store supervisors, cashiers and stock staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Design and deliver in‑store training on customer service, POS operation and workplace safety.
• Coordinate staff scheduling to ensure optimal coverage during peak periods while controlling overtime.
• Drive in‑store marketing, seasonal promotions and localized branding to increase foot traffic.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Logistics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of progressive retail management experience, preferably in convenience stores or fast‑paced retail environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple store locations is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience tracking performance metrics.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with modern Retail POS systems.
• Proficiency in automated inventory management software.
• Familiarity with electronic workforce scheduling tools.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for reporting.
