Assistant HR Manager

About the role

The Assistant HR Manager will support the HR Manager in delivering end‑to‑end HR services for Bazaar Myanmar’s retail and wholesale distribution operations. This role ensures effective recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll, and compliance across a fast‑growing retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with full recruitment cycles: job posting, screening, interviewing and onboarding.
• Help develop, update and communicate HR policies, procedures and employee handbooks.
• Manage employee relations issues, including grievances, disciplinary actions and conflict resolution.
• Coordinate performance appraisal processes and goal‑setting activities.
• Oversee payroll processing, attendance tracking and leave administration in partnership with Finance.
• Ensure compliance with Myanmar labour laws, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Support training and development programmes to build employee capability.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
• Assist with compensation and benefits administration and prepare HR analytics reports.
• Supervise and mentor junior HR team members and collaborate with Retail Operations, Merchandising and Warehouse departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field (required).
• Diploma or certification in HR Management (preferred).
• 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in retail or wholesale distribution.
• Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations and HR administration.
• Hands‑on experience with HR/payroll software.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, reporting).
• HR/payroll software systems.
• Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices.
