Agronomist (Myitkyina)

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking an Agronomist to join its EcoSec Department in Myitkyina. Working under the EcoSec Delegate, the Agronomist will plan, implement and monitor agricultural activities that support food production and resilience of conflict‑affected households in Kachin State.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main focal point for agro‑related interventions such as monsoon paddy assistance, winter vegetable assistance and agro trainings.
• Develop and maintain contacts with municipal and regional authorities, as well as local Red Cross structures.
• Conduct agricultural needs and market assessments to identify priorities and intervention opportunities.
• Design and implement the distribution of agricultural inputs or cash to eligible communities.
• Provide technical specifications, quantities, quality standards and Bills of Quantities for procurement and logistics.
• Coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and other technical counterparts.
• Prepare action plans for monsoon and winter seasons and mobilise the distribution team.
• Identify farmers for training, prepare partnership agreements and supervise implementation and monitoring of assistance.
• Support the implementation of other EcoSec programmes, including cash‑for‑... interventions.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the supervision of the EcoSec Delegate.
• Experience in planning and monitoring agricultural interventions in humanitarian contexts.
• Familiarity with agricultural needs assessments and input distribution processes.
• Strong coordination skills with government and Red Cross partners.
