Retail Training Manager

About the role

The Retail Training Manager develops, implements and oversees comprehensive training strategies to boost employee performance, maintain high customer service standards and drive sales growth across all retail store operations, including staff, cashiers, supervisors and managers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Training Needs Analysis by evaluating operational gaps, performance metrics and audit results, aligning initiatives with KPIs such as customer satisfaction, sales targets and shrinkage reduction.
• Design and update training materials, SOP manuals, presentation decks and evaluation tools for front‑line and supervisory staff, covering customer service, product knowledge, visual merchandising, POS operations, cash handling, inventory management and loss prevention.
• Lead onboarding programs for new hires and refresher courses for existing staff, deliver on‑the‑job training, floor coaching and real‑time guidance during regular store visits.
• Manage training scheduling, venue logistics, material distribution and training system administration, and measure effectiveness through assessments, quizzes and performance feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or related field; professional L&D certification is a plus.
• 3 to 5+ years of experience as a Training Manager, Assistant Training Manager or Senior Retail Trainer in supermarkets, hypermarkets or convenience stores.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of retail SOPs, store operations, POS systems, inventory management and customer service frameworks.
• Proficiency in instructional design and curriculum development.
• Advanced use of MS Office Suite – PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
