Associate Field Security Coordination Officer/Training Officer

About the role

The Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) seeks an Associate Field Security Coordination Officer/Training Officer to support security management and training activities in Yangon, Myanmar. Reporting to the Chief Security Adviser, the role contributes to the UN security management system and helps ensure safe delivery of UN programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver SSAFE/IFAK courses as co‑facilitator following approved curricula.
• Facilitate adult‑learning, scenario‑based training, including tabletop and practical exercises.
• Conduct training needs assessments for UNSMS and partner entities and plan related safety and security trainings.
• Adapt training scenarios to reflect evolving threat environments while preserving core curriculum content.
• Prepare draft security plans and related management documents for assigned missions or geographic areas.
• Monitor implementation of approved security measures and report on compliance.
• Maintain communication lines with UNSMS entities, agencies, funds, programmes, and security focal points.
• Assist in evaluating preparedness and compliance of security measures as directed by the United Nations.

Required profile

• Experience in coordinating security training programmes.
• Ability to conduct training needs assessments and develop training plans.
• Proficiency in drafting security plans and related documentation.
• Strong monitoring and reporting skills for security measures.
• Effective communication with UN security management stakeholders.
