Technical Consultant for ASER Studies – Data Management

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Consultant to lead data management for ASER (Annual Status of Education) studies in Myanmar. The role supports our Education in Emergencies programme by ensuring high‑quality data collection, processing and reporting, working remotely within the Asia time zone and travelling to the field when required.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data collection tools and protocols for ASER surveys.
• Oversee data cleaning, validation and database management to guarantee data integrity.
• Analyse and visualise education indicators, preparing concise reports for programme staff and donors.
• Coordinate with field teams and the Head of Programmes for Myanmar to align data activities with programme timelines.
• Provide technical support and capacity‑building to local partners on data management best practices.

Required profile

• University degree in statistics, data science, social sciences or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing large‑scale education or monitoring‑and‑evaluation datasets.
• Ability to work remotely and travel to Myanmar on an occasional basis.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to data quality.

Required skills

• Data cleaning, validation and database management.
• Statistical analysis and data visualisation.
• Familiarity with education monitoring surveys (e.g., ASER).
