Retail Training Manager

About the role

The Retail Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive training strategies and programs to enhance employee performance, maintain high customer service standards, and drive sales growth across all retail store operations. The role works closely with store staff, cashiers, floor supervisors, and store managers to ensure training aligns with core business KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Training Needs Analysis by evaluating operational gaps, performance metrics, and audit results, and align initiatives with KPIs such as customer satisfaction and sales targets.
• Design and update training materials, SOP manuals, presentation decks, and evaluation tools for front‑line and supervisory staff.
• Lead onboarding programs for new hires and deliver ongoing refresher courses for existing store personnel.
• Visit stores regularly to provide on‑the‑job training, floor coaching, and real‑time operational guidance.
• Oversee training scheduling, venue logistics, material distribution, and training system administration.
• Measure training effectiveness using post‑training assessments, quizzes, and performance feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; L&D certification or diploma is a plus.
• 3 to 5+ years of proven experience as a Training Manager, Assistant Training Manager, or Senior Retail Trainer in supermarkets, hypermarkets, or convenience stores.
• Willingness to travel to retail stores and branches as needed.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of retail SOPs, store operations, POS systems, inventory management, and loss‑prevention frameworks.
• Proficiency in instructional design, curriculum development, and the MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
