Head of Programmes – Myanmar

About the role

The Head of Programmes will lead the design, implementation and quality assurance of all humanitarian and development projects in Myanmar. Working within the Country Management Team, the role ensures strategic alignment, donor compliance and effective partnership with local civil society organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the Country Strategic Plan, work plan and programme reviews, ensuring compliance with People in Need policies.
• Supervise programme managers and project teams, overseeing project cycle management, budgeting and results‑based monitoring and evaluation.
• Design and write donor proposals, manage reporting and ensure timely, high‑quality financial and narrative reports.
• Develop and implement fundraising strategies and maintain relationships with donors and partners.
• Ensure safeguarding, MEAL and risk management procedures are operational across all programmes.

Required profile

• University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in a relevant field.
• Proven senior management experience in humanitarian programming, including project cycle management and team leadership.
• Strong understanding of quality standards, safeguarding and accountability mechanisms.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

What we offer

• Salary between €3,250‑€3,500 per month (super‑gross) plus a monthly subsistence allowance of €1,395.
• Accommodation provided, travel reimbursements, medical support and health insurance.
• 25 days of annual leave and 10 sick days.
