Gender and Protection Advisor

About the role

The Gender and Protection Advisor will lead Oxfam Myanmar’s efforts to embed gender justice, social inclusion and protection across humanitarian and development programmes. The role provides technical leadership, capacity strengthening and ensures safe, equitable programming.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration of gender, GEDSI and protection principles into programme design, strategic planning and implementation.
• Conduct gender analyses, GEDSI audits and safe‑programming risk assessments to inform evidence‑based interventions.
• Provide technical support, training and mentoring to Oxfam and partner staff on gender‑transformative approaches and protection standards.
• Advocate for budget allocation, monitor gender‑mainstreaming progress and represent Oxfam in external gender and protection coordination forums.

Required profile

• Degree in social sciences, gender studies or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in gender equality, GEDSI, protection or safe programming in humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑stakeholder teams, influence partners and deliver gender‑transformative results.

Required skills

• Expertise in gender analysis, gender‑sensitive planning and integration of women’s empowerment into programmes.
• Strong knowledge of protection principles, GBV and community‑based protection approaches.
