Executive Engineer (Rooftop Solar)

About the role

The Executive Engineer (Rooftop Solar) will lead the complete engineering design cycle for rooftop solar projects, from site survey to detailed design, cost estimation and technical presentation to customers. This senior technical position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex solutions clearly.

Key responsibilities

• Develop optimal rooftop solar system designs (PV layout, single line diagrams, cable routing, string layout) based on site survey data.
• Perform solar generation simulations and produce yield assessment reports using PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD.
• Integrate structural design and electrical safety considerations, including earthing and lightning protection.
• Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BQ) and cost estimates for panels, inverters, mounting structures, cables and accessories.
• Collaborate with procurement to ensure specifications and pricing align with project budgets.
• Conduct technical consultations and presentations for commercial and industrial customers, explaining design choices, energy savings and ROI.
• Support sales and business development teams with technically robust commercial proposals.
• Hand over designs to installation and commissioning teams and provide on‑site technical assistance as needed.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Power, Renewable Energy, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience designing rooftop solar projects, preferably for commercial & industrial (C&I) clients.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to customers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Helioscope and PVsyst (or equivalent solar design software).
• Solid knowledge of solar PV technology, inverter operation, net‑metering policies and IEC/IEEE electrical standards.
• Ability to produce accurate BQ and cost estimations.
