Education Specialist – Learning Recovery (Temporary, Yangon)

About the role

The Education Specialist (Learning Recovery) will lead the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of learning recovery strategies within UNICEF Myanmar’s education programme. Reporting to the Chief of Education and supported by Education Managers, the role ensures interventions are evidence‑based, context‑responsive and integrated into national systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on learning recovery programmes.
• Provide technical leadership and programmatic support throughout the programming cycle.
• Strengthen foundational learning, support assessment systems and accelerate learning outcomes.
• Improve teaching and remediation practices and promote system resilience to future disruptions.
• Collaborate with education counterparts, implementing partners and stakeholders to advance guidance and investments.
• Contribute to programme results through effective planning, resource management and results‑based management.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in education programme development and management.
• Knowledge of learning recovery, assessment systems and teaching improvement.
• Ability to work under the guidance of senior education staff and coordinate with multiple partners.
• Commitment to equitable, inclusive and resilient education outcomes.
