Education Officer – Myanmar (Maungdaw)

About the role

The Education Officer will coordinate education activities in Maungdaw, Rakhine State, ensuring alignment with NRC strategies, donor requirements and community needs. The role involves supervising technical assistants, managing teaching materials, and promoting the right to education in emergency contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate education activities according to NRC strategy, proposals, budgets and plans.
• Supervise and train education technical assistants and community‑based workers, reporting progress to line managers.
• Ensure timely procurement, development and distribution of teaching and learning materials.
• Prepare periodic progress reports, statistics and donor‑compliant documentation.
• Conduct classroom observations, teacher follow‑up and monitor the quality of educational services.
• Build and maintain collaboration with education committees, community groups, youth organisations and implementing partners.
• Represent NRC in meetings and promote information exchange with external actors.
• Work closely with the Finance Officer to ensure accurate financial processes for project activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
• Minimum 3 years experience in Education in Emergencies or education programming in conflict‑affected, displacement or crisis contexts.
• Previous experience as a Project Officer or similar role in a humanitarian/recovery setting.
• Fluency in local languages and English, both written and verbal.
