Data Science Manager

About the role

Myanmar Zarla Distribution Co., Ltd. is looking for an experienced and business‑oriented Data Science Manager to lead data science initiatives and transform complex business data into actionable insights that support smarter decisions, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. The role will oversee the Data Science function, develop predictive models, and collaborate across functions to drive data‑driven solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Data Science function and develop data‑driven solutions aligned with business strategy.
• Design and implement predictive, forecasting, and machine‑learning models.
• Analyze sales, distribution, customer, inventory, supply‑chain, financial and operational data to identify opportunities and risks.
• Develop demand and sales forecasting, customer segmentation, and performance optimisation models.
• Build and maintain management dashboards, KPI analytics and decision‑support tools.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, IT and senior management to translate business challenges into analytical solutions.
• Identify AI, ML and automation opportunities to improve productivity, revenue and cost efficiency.
• Establish standards for data quality, model governance, documentation, security and responsible data use.
• Lead, coach and develop Data Scientists, Data Analysts and related team members.
• Present complex analytical findings to management in clear, business‑focused language.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, AI, Engineering, Economics or a related field.
• Strong professional experience in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning or related areas.
• Previous experience leading data‑science or analytics teams (highly preferred).
• Solid knowledge of Python, SQL, statistics, machine learning, predictive analytics and data visualisation.
• Experience with BI and visualisation tools such as Power BI or equivalent platforms.
• Good understanding of databases, data pipelines, data warehousing and data governance.
• Experience with forecasting, customer analytics, sales analytics, optimisation or FMCG/distribution analytics is an advantage.
• Practical knowledge of Generative AI, AI agents or modern AI‑enabled business solutions is highly desirable.
