Communication Officer – Temporary Appointment

About the role

The Communication Officer supports UNICEF Myanmar’s advocacy and communication strategy, focusing on digital platforms, newsletters, campaigns and media engagement. Reporting to the Advocacy and Communications Specialist, the role translates programme results and humanitarian priorities into timely, accurate and engaging content for national, regional and global audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Manage UNICEF Myanmar’s social media channels, planning editorial calendars, scheduling posts and ensuring timely updates.
• Create and adapt content for social media, the UNICEF website, newsletters and campaigns, including text, graphics, photos, video and other multimedia formats.
• Develop human‑interest stories from programme and field activities, adhering to UNICEF child‑safeguarding and ethical storytelling standards.
• Monitor and analyse digital performance – reach, engagement, audience growth and social listening – and use insights to improve communication effectiveness.
• Support media engagement, field communications and photo/video production while maintaining UNICEF editorial, brand and quality standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Science, Development Studies or a related field.
• Minimum one year of professional experience in communication, journalism, public relations, media or digital communications.
• Fluency in both English and Myanmar.
• Demonstrated ability to produce content for print, broadcast, web or social media platforms.
