Communication Officer (Temporary Appointment)

About the role

The Communication Officer supports UNICEF Myanmar’s advocacy and communication work, focusing on digital platforms, newsletters, campaigns and media engagement. Reporting to the Chief of Advocacy and Communications and the Advocacy and Communications Specialist, the role translates programme results and humanitarian priorities into timely, accurate and engaging content for national, regional and global audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Manage UNICEF Myanmar’s social media platforms, including editorial planning, scheduling, publishing and clearances.
• Create and adapt engaging content for social media, the UNICEF Myanmar website, newsletters and campaigns in text, graphics, photos, video and other multimedia formats.
• Develop human‑interest stories from programme and field activities while adhering to UNICEF child‑safeguarding and ethical storytelling standards.
• Monitor and analyse digital communication results, including reach, engagement, audience growth and social listening, and use insights to improve effectiveness.
• Support media engagement, campaigns, field communications and photo/video production, ensuring all content meets UNICEF editorial, brand and quality standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Science, Development Studies or a related field.
• Minimum of one year professional experience in communication, journalism, public relations, media or digital communications.
• Fluency in both English and Myanmar languages.
