Chief Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Accountant to lead our finance function within a dynamic fashion retail environment. The role involves overseeing all accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain accurate, timely financial records.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash‑bank reconciliations.
• Monitor and reconcile retail sales, POS transactions, cash collections, and bank deposits.
• Supervise inventory, stock movements, COGS, and stock reconciliation.
• Support budgeting, cash‑flow management, and cost‑control initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
• Coordinate with auditors and tax advisors for audit and tax matters.
• Manage and improve accounting processes using Odoo Accounting/ERP.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance/Accounting team.
• Provide financial analysis and support management in decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• LCCI Level 3 or ACCA certification.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong preference for retail/fashion retail experience, especially multi‑store operations.
• Experience in inventory/stock accounting and POS reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• In‑depth knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and tax/audit processes.
• Demonstrated leadership, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent in English and Burmese.
• High integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
