Head of Programmes – Myanmar and Bangladesh

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a senior leader to steer programme strategy and delivery across Myanmar and Bangladesh. Based in Yangon, the Head of Programmes will ensure coherent, high‑quality humanitarian interventions and foster joint positioning on displacement issues.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and adapt country‑level programme strategies in response to evolving contexts.
• Oversee implementation of all projects, ensuring compliance with contracts, budgets, policies and donor requirements.
• Promote synergy between programme areas and support integrated approaches.
• Lead fundraising strategy, manage concept notes, proposals, modifications and donor reporting.
• Coordinate with Area Managers to provide technical guidance and maintain consistent quality across projects.
• Support the MEAL team in establishing robust monitoring, evaluation and learning systems.
• Represent DRC in coordination forums, advocacy platforms and external communications to raise the organisation’s profile.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian programme management, preferably in displacement contexts.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑country teams and manage complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong track record in fundraising, grant management and donor reporting.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
