Duty Manager – Front Office (Hotel)

About the role

The Duty Manager supports the Front Office Manager in delivering premium service to VIP guests and ensuring smooth front‑office operations. This on‑site position requires a proactive approach to guest relations, staff coordination and problem resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and attend to VIP guests, arranging arrivals, departures and special services.
• Monitor lobby and public‑area cleanliness, and ensure front‑office staff present a professional appearance.
• Provide instructions to night reception during high‑occupancy periods and handle room‑lock issues.
• Coordinate with all hotel departments to maintain front‑office functionality.
• Operate the front‑office computer system and guest‑relationship management software.
• Handle guest inquiries, complaints and authorise charges for late departures or complimentary services.
• Conduct staff briefings, motivate the team and propose duty rosters.
• Assume full front‑office responsibility in the manager’s absence.

Required profile

• Degree or higher diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Front Office Manager in a 3‑4 star or 5‑star property.
• Strong knowledge of front‑office operations, personalized service principles and current industry trends.
• Excellent communication, active listening and problem‑resolution skills.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with front‑office computer systems.
• Experience using guest‑relationship management software.
