Education Specialist (Learning Recovery) (P-3)

About the role

Under the guidance of the Chief of Education, the Education Specialist (Learning Recovery) will lead the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of learning recovery strategies within UNICEF Myanmar’s programme. The role ensures that interventions are evidence‑based, context‑responsive and integrated into national education systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement learning recovery programmes that strengthen foundational learning and accelerate progress for children out of school.
• Provide technical leadership on assessment systems, teaching remediation, and system resilience to mitigate future disruptions.
• Coordinate with education counterparts, implementing partners and stakeholders to align strategies and investments.
• Monitor programme performance, manage resources and ensure results‑based management in line with UNICEF’s strategic plan.
• Contribute to knowledge management, innovation and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in education, international development or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing and managing education programmes, preferably in learning recovery.
• Strong understanding of national education systems and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local language is an asset.
