Back End Specialist – Launch Team

About the role

Join Ball’s Launch Team as a Back End Specialist and play a pivotal role in bringing new production lines and conversions to life. You will work alongside process experts to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑performance start‑up of spray and necker equipment in our sustainable aluminium packaging facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Champion a safety‑first culture, coach new team members on safe work practices and equipment compliance.
• Lead equipment start‑up and ramp‑up, providing hands‑on technical support during installation, commissioning and early production.
• Act as the on‑site Subject Matter Expert for assigned process areas, guiding the line toward stable and reliable operation.
• Deliver structured training (≈80% on‑the‑job, 20% classroom) to develop operator and mechanic capabilities.
• Provide real‑time troubleshooting, diagnose mechanical, chemical and process issues, and stabilize production quickly.
• Support root‑cause analysis and apply structured problem‑solving techniques to eliminate recurring issues.
• Validate SOPs, work instructions and training materials to reflect new equipment requirements.
• Promote food safety, sanitation and housekeeping standards, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Assist with parts, tooling and material readiness, identifying operational needs early.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to transition lines from start‑up to steady state.

Required profile

• Proven experience in process start‑up, line conversion or new‑build projects within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to coach others on safe practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure during start‑up phases.
• Effective communication skills for training and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, quality and environmental standards.
