Senior Protection Officer – Child Protection

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Senior Protection Officer to lead child protection activities in Yangon. You will oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of child protection interventions, ensuring they are gender‑sensitive, inclusive, and aligned with humanitarian principles.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor SHLS and information‑dissemination activities on child protection.
• Develop monthly and quarterly work plans with the field team.
• Coordinate with sector leads to harmonise work plans and ensure internal integration.
• Provide capacity‑building plans and deliver tailored training for protection and non‑protection teams.
• Ensure activities are inclusive, gender‑sensitive, and accessible to children with disabilities.
• Supervise case workers on the use of CPIMS+, digital forms, and case management workflows.
• Collaborate with community members, local authorities, and partners to strengthen community participation.
• Work with M&E to develop a context‑specific monitoring framework and tools.
• Support procurement processes related to child protection with the Supply Chain team.
• Promote safeguarding, PSEA, and Do‑No‑Harm principles in all activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field.
• Extensive experience in child protection programming in humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to supervise teams and manage multi‑partner coordination.
• Strong understanding of gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CPIMS+ and digital case‑management tools.
• Experience developing M&E frameworks and tools.
