Budget & Programming Officer

About the role

The Budget & Programming Officer will support the Deputy Country Director (Operations) in delivering budget and resource analysis, programming activities and ensuring efficient, effective, and compliant use of funds for WFP operations in Myanmar.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate budget planning and management processes, review budgets for accuracy and cost‑effectiveness, and release budgets in WFP’s corporate systems.
• Analyze commodity pipeline requirements, manage advance financing requests, and support monthly pipeline reviews to mitigate shortfalls.
• Advise spending units on fund utilisation, monitor sub‑allotments, and contribute to resource management committee decisions.
• Prepare interim, progress and final reports for donors, conduct risk assessments and propose internal control measures.
• Supervise a small team, provide coaching, and act as the first escalation point for complex analyses.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field, or a first degree with additional relevant experience.
• At least three years of professional experience in budget and programming, funds management or related areas, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
• Experience working with large datasets and presenting analytical results to diverse audiences.
